Jordanelle Fisheries Management PlanPresentation By: Jackie Watson, UDWR
In March 2015 the Division of Wildlife Resources completed an online survey regarding the fishery and fishing in Jordanelle Reservoir. There were 696 responses to the survey and generally they rated the fishing at Jordanelle as "Fair". Following the survey, the DWR solicited volunteers to participate on a Working Group that met monthly to develop a new Fishery Management Plan for the Jordanelle Reservoir. Cyanobacteria in Deer Creek ReservoiriPresentation By: Joe Crawford, Central Utah Water Conservancy District
The UDOH/UDEQ HAB Public Health Advisory Tiers were explained along with the density of Cyanobacteria cells and microcystins that need to occur for each Tier. The timeline of sampling that occured this summer was outlined and the results of the sampling provided to the group. The sampling on September 12, 2017 had levels of Cyanophyta at approximately 700/ml, indicating that a health warning was not necessary for that time. These results were compared to 2016 and 2015 results. The general problem is that Cyanobacteria generally floats on the surface and is moved easily by wind and waves. So, the bacteria may gather together for a short period of time, but tends to dissipate quickly. It is important to note that the drinking water treated from water in Deer Creek is safe to drink. However, the public health advisory was for the small areas of beach effected by the blue-green algae. ![]()

Quagga Mussel UpdatePresentation By: Nathan Owens, UDWR
The DWR gave Statewide and local statistics on Watercraft Interdictions, Decontaminations, and Mussel Encrusted Boats. The Interdiction activities were moved to Law Enforcement Units so that DWR personnel could focus on the decontaminations. The State is looking into contracting with private firms to do decontamination in the future. If future samples come back clear of veligers, then Deer Creek Reservoir may be reclassified as “Undetected” in January 2018! This is a great example of the efforts needed to keep these pests out of our water! ![]()

Round Valley Hydrogeologic SurveyPresented By: Paul Inkenbrandt, Utah Geological Survey
The efforts of the UGS in characterizing the aquifer in Round Valley were discussed. To date the following work has been completed:
The groundwater was close to the surface, especially near streams. There was little notable, seasonal fluctuations in the groundwater which indicates a stable groundwater aquifer. It also has a moderate transmissivity. ![]()
